In terms of multiplayer you can either play the computer or play over a LAN and the manual says that the opposing AI is smarter and gives you a more realistic opponent, laying better transport networks and recognising where to invest and where to close unprofitable lines more efficiently than before. At the harder difficulty settings, the computer opponent is not that easy to beat. Basically if you like management sims you won't find a lot more challenging and entreating than this classic.
