Myst- Uru path of the shell is another great game from the makers of Myst!. It is very nicely done, some excellent video's in it, and the level of the puzzles to be solved is challenging. I especially liked the sound effect, some of the background music is so hauntingly beautiful!
I played this game during a long and dark winter (2004-2005) and it was for me a great escape from the long days.
I recommend it to the game enthousiasts, and even if you want to cheat and use a walk-thru it is still a very cool game.
You start the game by deciding what your character looks like (face, body, clothes) and then set of in a desert like place with a quarry. You can run jump and move in all sorts of ways. If you prefer you can also change the mode to the 1st person, as in previous games. From there on you find the different hand-prints and tasks and go to different worlds. Very exciting!
I can tell you more but that would be giving it away.

This is as obscure and pretentious as you would expect from the world of Myst and it is a bug ridden pain to play but it is also stunningly lovely to look at when it works. I love playing this and its derivatives, "To D'ni" and "Path of the Shell". Of all the games that call themselves total immersion this is truly the only one I have ever got immersed in to the extent of dreaming about it. Leaving aside the above quibbles and the unfortunate habit of characters in the game pronouncing D'Ni as Dunny, which somewhat detracts from the portentous voiceovers, I have to say that if you want a challenge this is the one for you.
Even if you never get anywhere in the game the whole thing is like walking in a Roger Dean painting.
